Snowy Mountains
The Snowy Mountains Region is breathtakingly beautiful and an absolute joy to experience. Riders travelling through the region are welcomed by fresh mountain air and wonderful vistas - a refreshing change from riding the highways.
The number of towns throughout the region gives the discerning rider an opportunity to spend several days touring the area without travelling the same road twice.

A Ride from either Gippsland or from Melbourne following a route that takes in the Ovens Valley, including Bright, Mt. Hotham and the high plains area and Omeo and the road connecting to Bairnsdale, (This is the road B500 on most modern maps) and takes in many excellent vistas, including high mountain passes, stunning panoramic vistas across the Victorian high country, unspoilt mountain rivers and quait victorian regional towns. The roads involved between these locations take in some of the best motorcycling roads available in Vctoria, with straight sections and plenty of curves, all with lovely scenery the entire jouney. Best time is Spring, Summer or Autum. In Winter the high passes road across Mt Hotham is routinely closed and its typically too cold and dangerous to contemplate on a motorbike during that period. Side trips in the area from the main route listed above can be added to take in some very historic towns such as Beachworth and other mountain passes such as Mt. Buffalo or Mt. Beauty.

Fantastic riding all over up there. However many roads have recently been up graded and the section from Falls Creek to Omeo now sealed have masses of loose stones across many bends....A real trap for new riders!

My partner (experienced rider) and I (L plater) rode from Melbourne to Eden then from Eden across the mountains to Canberra - the ride was fabulous hardly any traffic so I was able to relax a bit more and just concentrate on riding well.

Snowy Mountains, breathtakingly beautiful and a joy for motorcycle riders. Visit towns like Baw Baw, Mt buffalo, Bright , Mt Hotham, Mt Buller, Omeo, Dinner plain. Enjoy excellent views but always be on the lookout for the ice and snow.
